We partner with farmers and meat companies to raise awareness and encourage control of Sheep Measles among dog owners as a subsidiary of the Meat Industry Association.
It’s also important that people who use farmland for sporting and hunting activities, work with farmers and ensure their dogs do not spread sheep measles. Listen to a duck hunter and pig hunters explain their approach to enduring a good relationship with sheep farmers.
Ovis Management is 100% owned by the Meat Industry Association of NZ and is funded by meat processors. We have four Directors comprised of two farmers and two industry representatives on the board. In addition, an Associate Director has also been appointed for a two-year term.
Ovis Management has developed a number of resources for farmers and dog owner. These are regularly updated with many of the guides and information sheets able to be downloaded. We will continue to develop resources as required and welcome feedback or suggestions on additional material.
This area has a calendar of upcoming Agricultural and other rural events. Those attended by Ovis Management are tagged with the company logo. If you are having an event and would like information or resources in relation to sheep measles please don’t hesitate to contact us.
The Ovis Management Annual Meeting take place late August each year.
Here you will find downloadable reports from 2015 onwards.
The Ovis Management programme is supported by all of the NZ major processors with around 98% of lambs processed being monitored. These processors support the programme, which in turn contributes to ensuring only the best product reaches our discerning markets.
